This photo is part of a series of photographs that were taken with color film for the magazine Paris Match in 1953 by Willy Rizzo, a fashion photographer better known for his shots of 1950s stars and starlets. The images depict in colors the then 66-year-old Corbusier in various spots about Paris. After 1953, these photos were not published until 2012, at an exhibit organized by Foundation Le Corbusier.
This photo was taken at his studio in 35 rue de Sèvres, Paris. The blackboard behind him has a sketch of the Unité d’Habitation, where the architect has noted many of the focal points of its design: the natural light, the green spaces and the communal facilities.
