I live about 40 miles west of Chicago, and we have seen a variety of weather events in the new year. I grew up in this area and truly relish experiencing all four seasons, even winter. There is an austere beauty that comes from the extreme elements when they express themselves.
I think of this time as a time to rest and rejuvenate with ideas for the upcoming gardening season. Here are a few photos of what I have seen recently. The final photos are of some cuttings and new starts from some things I propagated this weekend.
