Winter in Louisiana tends to be pretty mild, but this year has brought some seriously cold and wet days. On top of that, Baton Rouge (my city) had its first snow day in nearly a decade. As you can imagine, once I was done playing with my dogs in the snow, I spent most of my time bundled up indoors — especially when it got extra chilly at night. My room traps heat most of the year, except when the temperature drops below 40 degrees. That’s when I start layering my bedscape to get more warmth without driving up my electric bill.
What Is the Cuddle Blanket?
Cozy Earth has a diverse selection of throws and bed blankets, but it doesn’t get more luxurious than the Cuddle Blanket. Available in throw (60 x 50 inches) and oversized throw (80 x 60 inches) sizes, the Cuddle Blanket comes in four colors and boasts an ultra-soft faux-fur texture. Although it’s not a weighted blanket, this plush throw has a noticeable weight to it that adds warmth and comforting pressure when layered on top of bedding. The knife-edge finish around the perimeter of the blanket also gives it a seamless appearance and preserves its fluffiness all around. Conveniently, the Cuddle Blanket is machine-washable on a cold, gentle cycle, and it must be air-dried. However, dry cleaning is recommended for “lasting quality,” according to the brand.
If you want the feel of the plush throw in a lighter weight, Cozy Earth offers the Bubble Cuddle Blanket — in two sizes and three chic neutrals — at a lower price. (It’s also on sale!)
Why I Love the Cuddle Blanket
Because I wanted a blanket that would cover the top of my queen-size mattress, I opted for the Cuddle Blanket as an oversized throw — and I have no regrets. Right out of its packaging, it was clear that this blanket was softer than any of my other throws or bed blankets, and it’s the most luxe, dreamy, and plush by far. Granted, the Cuddle Blanket is more expensive compared to my other throws, but I can say from experience that it’s worth it. I’ve had my Cuddle Blanket for well over a year now and it looks and feels just as good as new. There hasn’t been any sudden bunching or appearance of loose hems, but what has impressed me the most is that this blanket doesn’t shed. I’ve taken it from my room to other bedrooms, pushed it around, folded and flipped it over however I needed to be comfortable; through it all, I’ve never found a loose strand or clump of faux fur from it.
While this isn’t the blanket I’m carting around the house nonstop, it’s definitely one of my favorites, so I take extra good care of it. When it’s extremely cold outside, this is the piece I always look forward to adding to my bed as a bonus layer. It keeps me substantially warm, which means I don’t have to crank up the heat (saving me money in the long run), and it’s honestly replaced some of my weighted throw blankets that didn’t fully cover my mattress from edge to edge.
With the Cuddle Blanket, whether I’m lounging on top of it, wrapped up in it, or sleeping underneath it, I have zero complaints. Like all of the other Cozy Earth gems I’ve tried, it’s seriously top-tier comfort and totally worth the splurge. Oh, and I highly recommend grabbing it on sale while you still can!
