The headquarters of Meals on Wheels, designed by JPE Design Studio, has received the inaugural SA Architecture Medal at the 2021 South Australian Architecture Awards.
The jury said the project is an architectural expression of the organization’s operations and social values.
“The project showcases an exemplary level of considered design and architectural craft, striking an elegant balance between commercial imperatives and design flourish.”
Elsewhere in the awards, the redevelopment of Her Majesty’s Theatre by Cox Architecture received the named awards in Public Architecture and Heritage Architecture categories as well as the City of Adelaide Prize.
In all, 42 honours were handed out among the 77 entries. Winners of awards and named awards will advance to the National Architecture Awards to be announced in November.
