Etsy knows it can be a daunting task to accomplish all your holiday to-dos in time, but luckily they’ve got all the recommendations you need to help navigate the most wonderful time of the year with ease. The popular marketplace for artisans and small businesses released its Holiday Trend Report today, and it’s filled with essentials to ensure the season goes off without a hitch—including festive decorations, dreamy tabletop settings, and gifts you won’t find anywhere else. In addition to the season’s hottest (and most unexpected) trends, Etsy is also unveiling the first-ever virtual Etsy House, an experience that allows digital shoppers to “walk through” an online home that’s been fully furnished with curated holiday favorites, past and present Etsy Design Award winners, and other fun surprises. Just make sure you check out some of our favorite selections from Etsy’s holiday trend report before you start browsing.
Colors of the Season
Etsy’s data teams and trend expert Dayna Isom Johnson found that shoppers are trading in basic red and green in favor of bright neons and rich jewel tones this season. In addition to personalized neon signs, linen stockings, and ceramic dinnerware, here’s a vibrant pom pom wreath that’ll add some flair to your front door.
Checkerboard Everything
Good news: If you’re still riding the checkerboard high, Etsy’s report says that the mod trend isn’t going away anytime soon. And while there’s plenty of impressive checkered items to pick up like a nice quilt or a funky art print, we think wrapping all your presents in this cheeky black-and-white paper will be a delightfully unexpected way to experience the pattern this gifting season.
Tablescapes to Impress
It’s hard enough planning the perfect holiday menu that’ll accommodate everyone from your gluten-free sister to your vegan cousin. Add the expectation of professional-grade table settings and it’s enough to drive anyone up the wall. Thankfully, Etsy has tons of already assembled tabletop kits that will make it look like you spent hours planning every placard (but don’t worry, we won’t tell!). This one includes a tablecloth, napkins, blank menus, place cards, and matching dinner candles to lay the foundation for your picture-perfect feast.
Outdoorsy Influences
After spending extensive amounts of time inside, it’s no surprise that bringing outdoor elements into the home is en vogue. A particularly hot topic as of late? Mushrooms, which we think would make a nice addition to your festive trove in the form of a Christmas tree ornament like the ones below. As for the rest of your space, decorate with rustic accents like a dried floral wreath or a mountain peak candle to capture the ethereal side of winter.
Phone-Free Festivities
For those of us that want to spend the holidays off the grid this year (and Etsy indicates that’s a lot of us, with search volume for items like easy DIY kits up by 1,056%), there are plenty of family-friendly goods to choose from, like outdoor blankets for cozy nights by the fireplace, classic board games like checkers or chess, and DIY kits like this biscuit baking set that has all the ingredients and equipment you need to make tasty gingerbread treats.
