I have no idea if this is the right subreddit but please point me to the right one! Im ready to combat this phobia because it is distracting to my life.
For instance, I went on vacation in Maui and [stayed in the Hyatt Regency that is held up on concrete pillars] (https://www.tripadvisor.com/LocationPhotoDirectLink-g60634-d101352-i67160285-Hyatt_Regency_Maui_Resort_and_Spa-Lahaina_Maui_Hawaii.html). I did not like this at ALL and felt like it mimicked the conditions of the Miami building collapse (probably a sand foundation).
Psychologically I know where this problem is coming from for me and am working with a therapist (grew up in Chicago porch collapses, experienced California earthquakes, pandemic just heightened anxieties in general).
I would just love any resources about building/construction/architecture that can explain to me how this is safe construction!
Thank you!
