This is an awful take on everything honestly. Comparing a craftsman/homeowner built home against, if it is accurate, a PdD architect’s design is kinda unfair. I commented in a thread where this was shown but if a PhD did this design then they were testing something, some concept within architecture.
Alternately if not a PhD but just a design it could easily be driven by an overly zealous client who is driving the design based on their own desires and the architect is just running with it.
Also while the 1500’s builder might have been illiterate by the definition of the word, masons are anything but uneducated. They understand physics, geology, and structure, as well as having very spatial understandings and obviously they understood architecture enough to build a house. They might not have had accurate alignment and leveling tools but painting the 1500’s person as illiterate to indicate uneducated is probably more insulting and clueless than painting the new house as a travesty because of how it looks to the average person.
Either way this is just a bad facebook meme akin to “if we evolved from apes why are there still apes?” memes that klansmas share on facebook.
“Tell me you have no idea what you are talking about without telling me you have no idea what you are talking about” kinda thing.
