I bet you though granny squares were just for crochet. Well, they aren’t anymore. This charming quilt from Quilty Love proves that! Made with lots of scrappy squares, it’s a beautiful and easy quilt to make.
Because of the way the blocks are made, it looks like they are set on the diagonal, but they aren’t. The variety of fabrics in each block really make this design sparkle. Best of all, it’s an ideal scrap buster. I don’t think I’ve ever met a quilter who doesn’t have a lot of scraps to use up. Well here’s your chance. The squares are 2.5″ so you could also use a jelly roll if you preferred.
Finished, the quilt measures approximately 60″ x 72″, so it’s a nice lap or twin size. However, if you have the experience, you could easily make it larger.
The tutorial has step by step instructions and photos for making one block and then putting the whole quilt together so you shouldn’t have any problems.
Have fun making this lovely quilt. It’s definitely not your grandmother’s granny squares.
