As soon as I saw this snowdrops silk ribbon design from Hearty Craft, I knew I would be making it. More specifically, I knew I would be making it for my mother who absolutely loves snowdrops. When snowdrops bloom, you know that spring is not far behind.
Because the design is done in silk ribbon, it has an added level of dimension and delicacy to it. It is simply lovely, and the flowers looks so real. I think that might be my favorite aspect of this project.
The tutorial takes you through the entire process and includes detailed photographs of the various steps. You will also find tips and tricks that will help you with the process.
You will need standard silk ribbon embroidery supplies and the designer suggests using two layers of fabric for your work. She painted her background fabric which adds another design element.
Bring a little early spring into your home with these lovely flowers.

Looking for a supplier of Silk Ribbon? We love Etsy for finding hand dyed ribbons as well as imported European silk Embroidery Ribbons. You can see the listings here on Etsy. Why use silk ribbons? While you can use other kinds of ribbon, it’s best to work with silk because It’s lightweight and very fluid and can easily be manipulated into stitches.
