Today, I am going to share some information with you about the history of the Painted Hall at the Old Royal Navy College, London. Here’s a short description written by Aadi Mehta (https://aadishistorycorner.com/) along with a drawing made by me.
Situated at the heart of world time in Greenwich, London is the Old Royal Navy College. So prestigious a place, it was declared a World Heritage Site. Within the College is the famous Painted Hall. The Hall is home to one of the most beautiful and known Baroque (a 17th century painting style) in all of Europe, and possibly even the world. Painted by the esteemed artist Sir James Thornhill, who received his knighthood for this, it represents the political changes in Britain, and talks about the achievements of a tiny nation that conquered the world.
