Hello r/architecture! I’d like some input on a situation I have going on where someone wants to purchase one of my 3D models.
As a bit of a background, some of the work that I do is 3D modelling for city massing, where I focus on visualizing proposed building developments among the existing skyline. I have a couple of projects where I have modeled the entire skyline of proposed and existing buildings in a white massing on top of a satellite imagery layer for geolocation. Here is an example of one of the projects I currently have in progress. They are similar in nature to OSM-generated cityscape models, but each building has much more detail than your average OSM model and had to be done by hand.
I was recently contacted by an individual who wants to purchase one of my city models for a study. This particular model has an extensive array of proposed buildings in a downtown core, with approximately 150+ individual buildings and I’m constantly updating it as new proposals come in. I’m at a loss of what I should be charging for it. While realistically, each massing model I have done is not all that complex, there was still an extensive amount of work done on obtaining the information to accurately model each building.
I’d like some input on how I should go about pricing this type of work, and if there is anything I should be cautious of. Thanks in advance!
