I wish you all the best on your journey towards becoming an architect. But… both in your studies and especially later when working, you will realise, that your personal style is (unless you are the top 1% of architects) mostly irrelevant, as your designs will have to reflect the demands of your clients and the market as a whole. The whole idea of styles in new buildings has become, in my opinion, completely irrelevant anyway, ever since post-modernism died off in the 90’s. Also, be careful when designing in historical styles, as the user’s needs, and also building technology, have changed dramatically over the past 100+ years, making certain styles unsuitable for modern use.
It should also be mentioned that architecture is about designing spaces and volumes, not 2D facades. The facade is merely a reflection of what is happening on the inside of the building. I believe the function of the building and how the spaces work with each other, is absolutely fundamental and something you should focus on before even thinking about decorating the facade. Also, buildings usually have surrounding buildings (and/or landscape), with which they form a common urban space – one cannot exist without the other. Designing a building in an isolated empty void, as you did, is design for the sake of design, rather than design as a way to solve spatial problems and needs of users, which is essentially all that architecture is.
I would recommend you to study perspective drawing and sketching of existing places, in person. That will teach you how to read and understand 3D space, and how to think about fitting something new within that space. Look for spaces around you, which do not meet your expectations, and try to come up with a way to improve them. Don’t think only about “styles”, but also about the users of this building, how it will impact the whole community, how does it fit in with its urban context, material and building methods used, etc. And don’t think about architecture only as designing buildings – you’re designing spaces (which can be buildings, but also public spaces, pathways, landscape modifications, installations, or even doing nothing at all, if you think that’s best).
Best of luck 🙂
