I am an Architect from the UK, fresh out of Part 2 from UCL. Working with my Mum who has been flipping homes for a while we are looking to design and build a home and sell it at a profit. The entire budget, including land purchase, is £400,000.
We are looking into areas where people are willing to pay a premium for a home designed by an architect that expresses regional design to the particular place – eg Stratford or the Cotswolds. We are also looking at small plots of land – overlooked by developers for being asymmetrical and small in size – in theory, cheaper.
I do not necessarily have a question – more wanted folks thoughts and feedback on the proposition. One thing I would ask is do folks believe that homes designed by good architects (I am classing myself in this category ahah) are lucrative/does an architect add financial value?
As I said, any thoughts/experiences would be great to hear of! x
