Was early Italianate much simpler? I had considered that style because of the wide eaves, but I have copy of a drawing from a historical Allegan County book of my house from very early on, with portraits of the Loomis couple who built it along with a drawing of the log cabin they lived in while they built the house.
It never had the brackets up at the eaves nor are there any marks to indicate they’d been removed and the moulding around the windows is the same now as it was then, very simple. It did have working shutters originally.
The main thing that was changed is the front porch. It used to be wood and it didn’t have bricks built up around it. It was an open porch. And of course it was screened in at some point.
