With so much of the United States really cold right now, it might be a fun time to play with frozen water balloons.
Here’s a great explanation of the activity from Exploratorium, but who needs the freezer when the whole world is cold?
Add into the activity estimating how long you think it will take water balloons to freeze outside, or try using hot water and cold water in balloons to see which freezes faster.
Then bring them inside to play with using food coloring and salt.
This is a great activity for learning about the phases of matter, observing crystal formation or frozen bubbles in the water, making predictions and more.
