The silhouette seems like a sneaker from Nike’s 1980s collection, embellished with contemporary elements attributable to the influence of Virgil Abloh’s proclivity for labels and typography as stylistic signifiers. There’s also a bit of the iconic Nike Air Jordan 4 in there too. Yet, the Jordan Brand MA-2 arrives as a sneaker wholly of 2021, a unisex and subtly deconstructed expression of the Jordan Brand intended to offer fleet feet comfort.
While nowhere as slip-on accessible as the recent and highly lauded Nike Go FlyEase no-lace slip-on sneaker design, the MA-2s feature an extended heel and tongue to ease sliding into these sneakers, paired with a grippy rubber heel clip to make removal a simple hands-free motion.
The visible Nike Air Max window and gum sole are both throwback nods to Nike and the Jordan brand heritage, details further reinforced by the inclusion of a 1979-2021 commemorative label stitched across each shoe.
The Jordan MA-2 Future Beginnings will be made available in both men’s and women’s sizing via SNKRS for $150 on February 25th, arriving alongside the brand’s Future Primal apparel collection.
