“Objects USA” Gets an Encore
Design history buffs received some good news this week. The much-lauded and pioneering exhibition, “Objects USA,” which opened at the Smithsonian in 1969, has gotten a redux. New York gallery R & Company has officially opened “Objects USA 2020″ at its Tribeca space. While the exhibition was delayed due to the pandemic, it features enlightening works by the individuals like ceramist Ebitenyefa Baralaye. Hopefully, the show will help further establish the likes of Baralaye; after all, the first iterations of “Objects” helped cement the reputations of Anni Albers, George Nakashima, and others.
