In Ottawa we have trees all over the place, as well as lots of grass and things all over the city, even downtown. The parliament buildings have a giant lawn that anyone can go onto whenever they want and there’s a huge canal running from the river to the north all through the city.
They you visit Toronto only four hours away and cry as you’re surrounded by concrete, concrete, and more concrete. It can be a nice enough place to visit but oh my god I’d hate to live there. I had two friends visit from there and their biggest thing about Ottawa was “wow the air is so clean here”.
I hate how so many cities seem to operate on the assumption that it’s one thing or the other, you’re either short and grassy or tall and grey.
