Gorgeous Fall Floral Pinecone Wreath Decor

Fall doesn’t have to be all about dreary dead leaves and trees.  Instead, it is full of rich colors and flowers!  Maybe not the flowers of springtime, but this fall floral pinecone wreath shows just how beautiful some of the later summer and early fall flowers can be.  Customize your wreath with your favorite flowers for a stunning addition to your front door! 

Fall Floral Pinecone Wreath

I am a huge fan of wreaths that show natural elements.  This one has one side open with the grapevine form shows, and the other side is covered with beautiful floral and greenery elements.  There are even a few little toadstools tucked into the flowers for good measure.  It’s just a lovely way to add some beauty to any space. 

While this is primarily a fall wreath, you could update it with different additions and make it work for any time of year.  The biggest thing to change would be leaving the pinecones off.  However, if that rustic look is a favorite, you’ll love this full rustic fall wreath with natural elements like pinecones, nuts, and shells. 

What All Can I Use to Decorate This Wreath? 

This is a great time to gather up all of the scraps from your crafting projects and see what you have on hand.  The idea behind this wreath is to create a natural floral look that includes bits of nature.  So, I used some pinecones, a few roses, some bits of greenery, smaller fake flowers, and a few twigs and berries.  There are tons of items you can use, and below are some more to consider.  Just know that there is nothing exact, but it is more of a guide. 

• Artificial flowers, removed from their stems:  roses, chrysanthemums, sunflowers pansies, or dahlias are beautiful additions. 
• Add in bits of greenery like babies breath, ivy, or even the tops of green flowers. 
• Include a variety of types of flowers as well as sizes.  For this, I used larger roses but then tucked in miniature sunflowers and similar in empty spaces. 
• Nuts or shells are a great addition to acorn caps, walnuts, pecans, or almonds in the shell. 
• Berries or fruits.  I used some red berries, but artificial apples would look great on this as well. 
• A few unique additions like the little red and white toadstools are cute, but you could add little frogs, fairies, or similar items instead. 

What is the Best Wreath Form For This? 

I love using grapevine wreaths, like for this rustic fall grapevine wreath with felt flowers.  They have that natural look that doesn’t need much extra to make it look beautiful, but you may want to try using something else.  

This festive Christmas wreath looks like a solid form but is actually made out of a hula hoop that has been covered in fabric.  You’ll notice it has flowers on only one side, much like this fall wreath.  So, while grapevine looks great with that natural fall theme, it isn’t mandatory to create a beautiful wreath. 

I recommend sticking with a grapevine wreath, but you can use a wrapped foam wreath, wire wreath, or even a hula hoop that has been wrapped in a seasonal print or ribbon.  And if you still need more ideas, this list of farmhouse wreath ideas has tons of unique choices as the base for a wreath. 

Can I Add a Bow to My Wreath? 

Yes!  On the bottom of this wreath, just below the flowers, I have added a small bit of lace and ribbon.  You could add a bow to this or even replace it with a bow.  I find that something simple works best with the addition of so many different flowers and colors on the wreath.  A burlap bow, or a few solid ribbons dangling below a raffia bow are a perfect idea for adding to this wreath.

How to Make a Fall Floral Pinecone Wreath

Separate all of your flowers, leaves, and greenery from longer stems so you only have the main portion (head of a flower, etc.). 

Begin by gluing the pinecones in place around 1/2 of the wreath, leaving 3 to 4 inches between each pinecone. 

Next, add the roses next to the pinecones. 

Then add the white and green puffs or other smaller greenery to fill in bigger gaps. 

Add sunflowers, chrysanthemums, and daisies to fill in any gaps around the larger items. 

Glue fake leaves on the backside of the wreath so they just poke out a bit on each side behind the flowers. 

Then glue in a few fake toadstools. 

Add a few sprigs of green leaves and berries randomly and on the ends. 

Add an 8″ length of a lace ribbon with a few thin strips of brown ribbon in the center at the bottom edge of the floral display so it hangs below the wreath. 

Now hand and display your wreath!
