I think most of us know that the traditional story of what Thanksgiving is and why we have it isn’t the truth of how native people and the settlers actually interacted, and from a historical perspective Thanksgiving is pretty fraught.
Unthanksgiving is the name of a protest held on Thanksgiving at Alcatraz Island, which is just one of the expressions of anger, mourning and remembrance that happens that day.
To commemorate that aspect of the day, Sassi Stitch made this UnThanksgiving cross stitch pattern.
It uses seven colors and fits in a six-inch hoop when stitched on 14-count fabric. You can download the free pattern from Sassi Stitch.
