Important changes are coming to the way Kāinga Ora works with architects, with the establishment of preferred supplier panels. These panels will give preferred suppliers visibility of the Kāinga Ora pipeline, which Kāinga Ora say “will build greater understanding between suppliers and Kāinga Ora, improve social and environmental impacts, and improve contracting arrangements”.
The RFP for architects will be released early-to-mid February 2022 through GETS and Tenderlink with a six-week response window. An Advance Notice will be released before the RFP to indicate what Kāinga Ora is doing and why.
To apply to be on the Kāinga Ora panel, architects must already be part of the All of Government Construction Consultancy Services (AOG CCS) panel.
Architects are encouraged to join one of two webinars that will discuss the benefits of joining the panel, and criteria for selection. Kāinga Ora Director – Architecture, Marko den Breems, and Senior Procurement Specialist, Andrea Pryce will discuss why Kāinga Ora is establishing the panel, what they are looking for, and the benefits of becoming a preferred partner. Questions, Kāinga Ora says, will be welcome.
Webinar dates below:
- 12pm, Wednesday 26 Jan 2022 – New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects (NZILA). Click here to register.
- 12pm, Tuesday 1 February – New Zealand Institute of Architects (NZIA registration details are yet to be announced)
The preferred supplier panels will support regional projects across New Zealand.
- The panels will be valid for a period of two years, with the right for renewal of one plus one years (2+1+1)
- Each category and region have restricted numbers of suppliers to ensure each preferred supplier receives some work from Kāinga Ora
- Kāinga Ora encourage local and smaller companies to apply
Kāinga Ora say “This is an exciting opportunity for architects to demonstrate their ability to partner with Kāinga Ora and support its extensive build programme”.
