What Can I Use to Decorate My Wine Bottle Cover?
I am using a combination of lace and beads to create the decorations on the blue jeans wine bottle cover. You can use another style of fabrics, and different beads, or you can add things like sequins, glitter, or paint to the wine bottle cover.
Another idea to decorate the wine bottle cover is to use a hot glue gun to attach fabric, ribbon, or similar items. Things like patches, monogram initials, or even holiday-themed items can be used to really customize the cover.
Of course, if kids are helping you with the craft, then you may want to pick up some fabric paint or paint pens and add designs, swirls, or even add words or monograms to the outside of the cover. They will love adding their own unique spin to it, and even though it’s for wine, they can feel like they have been a part of the gifting process.
Should I Add a LIner to This?
You do not need to add a liner to the blue jean wine cover but you can if you prefer. Because of how thick the denim fabric is, if you choose to add a liner, you want to add something lightweight. If you want something that is recycled, I would use linen or another thin fabric. The liner is only for decoration purposes, so think thin and pretty.

While you may want to use this to chill the wine, it’s not intended for that purpose. This is truly just a decor item or another way of making a bottle of wine a nice gift for someone.
How Can I Make the Denim Fit The Bottle Better?
If the size of the blue jeans you are using is larger than needed or just doesn’t fit the wine bottle you are trying to cover as well, that is okay. You can make it fit a little better by adding a ribbon around the center of the bottle, much like a belt. This is part of how I decorated my bottle.
You can be as decorative or as simple as you like. It will all depend on personal preference. You can also add a few pieces of elastic around the bottle cover. This can be along the top and the bottom. It’s simple to hem in a bit of elastic at the top or stitch inside before you turn it inside out. You can also add the elastic along the center to act as a belt.
Another idea to do with the elastic is to run it vertically up and down the sides of the bottle. This will cinch the cover in a different way than it does as a belt but creates a beautiful effect. Of course, a simple ribbon or bow tied around the center does the job nicely!
Supplies Needed
How to Make a Denim Wine Bottle Cover
Measure and cut the leg of an old pair of blue jeans off, to just the same height as a bottle of wine.
Turn the denim inside out, then, hem one of the open ends closed.

On the open end of the denim cover, sew the lace ribbon around the open end, so the flat end is just below the edge, and the scalloped edge is hanging out the top.
Flip the denim back right side out, and fold the lace over the top edge.
Now, measure and tie the burlap ribbon around the center of the cover, cinching it in slightly. You want it to curve in, but not be too tight to move the bottle of wine in and out easily.
Glue this length of burlap ribbon around the middle of the cover, crossing the loose ends in the front as a bow.
Now, use some of the lace ribbons, cut a piece then sew/cinch it together in the center to create a round piece for a “bow”.
Glue this to the middle of the center burlap ribbon you just made.
Then, glue a wooden bead to the center of the lace ribbon round bow.
Glue pearl beads around the top edge, and around the bottle, in swirls or groupings as desired.
Add other embellishments if desired.
