Iconic rapper and producer Dr. Dre—who has become quite the real estate savant over the years—has listed his stunning Malibu mansion for a whopping $20 million, reports Dirt. The co-founder of game-changing audio products company Beats Electronics bought the nearly nine thousand square-foot stunner for a mere $4.8 million back in 2000.
Located on Carbon Beach, the beachfront neighborhood nicknamed “Billionaire’s Beach” for its high concentration of ultra wealthy residents, the “contemporary” style tri-level manse is entered through a gated courtyard and features six bedrooms and seven bathrooms. Large picture windows and wide doors of glass reveal incredible views of the Pacific Ocean and flood all rooms with natural light. From the kitchen, which is outfitted with stainless steel appliances and black countertops atop curvy-edged blonde wood cabinetry, one can see all the way to the beach. In between those two points is an entertainment area that holds a breakfast nook and pool table, a beige and white living room accented by floor-to-ceiling stone surrounding a wood-burning fireplace, and a large balcony with a glass balustrade and firepit.
Upstairs, the primary bathroom and bedroom, separated by wide pocket doors, continue a similar floor plan and color palette. Plush, white carpet covers the floors from the large bathroom containing an oversized spa bathtub to the beginning of the expansive balcony. The bedroom in between boasts an off-white, ceiling-height leather headboard and two reading nooks. Connected to the bedroom’s boutique-style closet is a sauna. Other highlights of the home include a gym, an ocean-view recording studio, and an office.
According to Dirt, the six-time Grammy-Award winner attempted to sell the luxury property in 2012 at a price range between $11 million – $12.5 million. After twenty-four years of marriage, Dre’s ex-wife Nicole Young, filed for divorce and lived in the house until legal proceedings ended in December of 2021. The settlement gave her a lump sum of $100 million dollars and four cars. Dr. Dre (real name Andre Young) was allowed to keep all seven of his properties, including the massive Brentwood estate he bought from Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady for $40 million in 2014.
