Matthew Malin and Andrew Goetz, co-founders of the luxe (and self-described “uncomplicated”) skincare brand MALIN+GOETZ, enlisted the talents of New York architecture firm Messana O’Rorke (MO’R) to help design their New York City apartment located on the Upper West Side. Much like their deliciously-scented brand, the apartment’s new design has an understated elegance with clean white walls adorned with original baseboards and plaster relief details that mimic crown molding. Reclaimed oak boards are placed in a herringbone layout and finished with a natural oil for a classic yet modern feel. The design is beautiful, making it no surprise it’s featured in the firm’s debut monograph, Messana O’Rorke: Building Blocks, which Rizzoli published in October.
A curated collection of modern and mid-century furnishings results in a one-of-a-kind space that unites the past with the presence. It’s a mix of luxury, minimalism, and refinement, which is especially on display in the bathroom.
The bathroom is clad in Carrara marble with unlacquered brass fixtures and hardware making its own bold statement.
