I love it when two crafts combine to make something even more special than either one of them could do alone. One craft that shows up in a lot of other crafts is quilting, probably because the graphic, geometric shapes are easy to reproduce in paint, yarn and stitching.
Let’s take a look at some fun cross stitch quilt patterns!
I love this rainbow quilt cross stitch sampler pattern from Durene J Cross Stitch, which is on Etsy. In this 89 by 119 stitch project you’ll stitch a bunch of tiny squares in a bunch of colors and have a lot of fun doing it.
Speaking of rainbows, this easy rainbow cross stitch block pattern is tiled so that you’re repeating the same block throughout, just in different colors. You can get it from Tango Stitch on Gumroad.
The Flea Market Flowers pattern by Lori Holt of Bee in My Bonnet isn’t necessarily inspired by a quilt, but the individual blocks holding the different flowers remind me of quilting. The pattern is 153 by 169 stitches and uses 17 colors. You can buy the pattern and a kit to make it from Fat Quarter Shop.
The Etsy shop A Feathered Stitch has a handful of quilt block inspired cross stitch patterns, including the one pictured above that is a traditional tulip design.
If you’re looking for a seasonal cross stitch quilt pattern, check out the Farm Girl Fall cross stitch sampler, which features traditional quilt blocks along with seasonal images like a turkey and a pumpkin. This is another Lori Holt pattern you can find at Fat Quarter Shop. It is 90 by 90 stitches and uses 13 colors. It looks so great on a vintage fabric!
How about a Christmas quilt cross stitch pattern? This one from Mollie Johanson from The Spruce Crafts uses 10 colors to illustrate its kawaii holiday designs like a bow, Christmas trees a quilt-like stars. This would be so cute for a holiday card!
