It’s funny that we are all supposed to have more time in the summer for things we enjoy like crafting, but at the same time it’s the time of year I’m least inclined to start a big project.
I guess it’s something about the heat, and the fact that I’m primarily a knitter, so making a big project in the summer definitely isn’t a very good idea (unless the air conditioner is on too high, then I’m definitely pulling out one of my never-ending blanket projects).
Whatever the reason, this time of year I’m drawn to quick and simple projects in other crafts, too, including cross stitch. So with that in mind I’ve gathered some super cute and quick to stitch small summer cross stitch patterns.
Stitchonomy on Etsy has this super cute little summer sampler that can be worked all as one piece (and fits in a 6-inch hoop when worked on 14 count fabric) or you can work individual pieces of it separately. In all this project in 72 by 73 stitches. I think the tiny crab is my favorite.
Creative Poppy Patterns offers this summer lady sampler, complete with strawberries, poppies and lots of sweet treats. The piece measures 140 by 95 stitches and uses eight colors. It’s actually part of a series of seasonal women, so if you like the style you can check out their other patterns like it.
Verano from Satsuma Street is a sampler that’s meant to be all worked together since each little image is individually framed. I love the kind of vintage, folk art vibe this pattern has! It’s 113 stitches square, or 8 inches on size 14 fabric. It uses 26 colors.
And while I’ve probably shared this one before, now’s a good time to remind you that this collection of 40 little summer cross stitch patterns exists. It’s from Craft with Cartwright, and these would be so cute stitches on little bookmarks, cards, napkins and other projects. That should keep you busy all summer long!
