Badass Cross Stitch has been doing a year of stitch over on their Patreon account, and the new sampler is so pretty and looks like a lot of fun, too.
Talking about the project on Instagram, they called it a Tetris-inspired project because you can add blocks of different stitches in different colors and pile them up whatever way you want to make the project your own.
There are simple cross stitches here as well as more involved stitches that you might not have tried before, which are great ways to add more texture and color to other projects, too. Some of these stitches would be a lot of fun as borders on other projects, or you can just stitch up a whole sampler like this one.
This is actually the second year of Year of Stitch, and the idea is that there’s a new stitch to learn every week, and every six weeks there’s a new sampler project to take part in. If you’re interested in this project or any of the content, you can support the Patreon for as little as $1 a month and gain access to all the archives.
This is such a great way to learn new-to-you stitches, take part in a fun stitchy community and support a fiber artist who has had some tough times recently.
And speaking of Patreon, I do support a couple of people over there, but hadn’t looked into cross stitch folks who were using the platform. If you’re interested in supporting other cross stitch artists, check out the list of cross stitchers on Patreon and find a few to support if you are able. It’s such a nice way to contribute to designers who bring value to your creative life and to support a different way of teaching and community building.
