The awards and the nomination process are designed to maintain the two main aims of Architecture+Women•NZ: raising the visibility of women trained in architecture in Aotearoa New Zealand and celebrating the outstanding contributions of women to our built environment and architectural communities.
The awards fit under three unique categories: Leadership, Diversity and Excellence — recognising careers and an overall contribution to architecture, rather than single buildings or works.
The winners and finalists come from a variety of backgrounds, practices and areas of the country, and represent the growth of women in the field of architecture.
The jury for this year’s awards comprised Justine Clark (Parlour), Craig Moller (Moller Architects), Dr Sarah Treadwell and Carinnya Feaunati (Designgroup Stapleton Elliott).
The 2023 A+W•NZ Dulux Awards winners are:
Chrystall Excellence Award
Celebrating the full and rich career of a female in the field of architecture.
Munro Diversity Award

Wirihana Leadership Award

Congrats to this year’s finalists:
Each winner received a certificate and a beautiful cast-glass trophy made by Auckland architect and artist Ainsley O’Connell.
About the A+W•NZ Dulux Awards
Sponsored by Dulux, the awards programme has been held triennially since 2014, forming part of a wider spectrum of activities undertaken by A+W•NZ, including research, publication, policy and events. The Warren Trust offers their support with the awards publication. The A+W•NZ Awards rely on a diverse team of volunteers who without them, the awards programme would not be possible.
