The apartment, nestled among the residential complexes around Aristotelous Square, draws inspiration from Thessaloniki’s Byzantine, European, and Arabian influences. This blend is a testament to the city’s resilience and diversity, especially after the 1917 fire that reshaped its architectural landscape.
A Nod to the Past
One of the standout features of this 1950s apartment is its high ceilings, which reach up to 4.05 meters. These ceilings, adorned with visible beams and intricate gypsum decorations, have been carefully restored to their former glory. To highlight these architectural gems, the design team implemented strategic lighting that accentuates their beauty and historical significance.
In the living area, the decision to cap constructions at 3.20 meters in height ensures that the space remains open and filled with light. This thoughtful consideration not only pays homage to the apartment’s heritage but also caters to contemporary needs for airy and well-lit living spaces.
A Floor to Admire
The flooring choice is a journey through time. A patterned mosaic that stretches from the outdoor entrance to the kitchen acts as a visual narrative, telling the story of the building’s past.
