When looking to buy their first property, Meg and Will Lewis loved the idea of designing their own home rather than purchasing an established property.
‘I love design and I wanted to add our own personality into the space, so it was more than just four walls,’ explains Meg.
‘It was important that this home was something Will and I both worked on. We loved the idea of creating something together for our growing family.’
After 10 years of renting, the couple turned to Boutique Homes to design and build the property they’d raise their future family in. ‘They had a good reputation for building quality homes, so it was an easy choice,’ says Meg.

‘Each floor plan has a range of design options to choose from, so you can add a bedroom, move the main bedroom to ground floor, or even reconfigure the kitchen.
There’s also the option to liaise with a joinery designer, who can personalise all the joinery throughout the home if required.
Meg and Will chose the Ascot floor plan for its generous proportions across two storeys. The standard Ascot floor plan features multiple living spaces on the ground floor, starting with a lounge on entry, followed by a dedicated study, and a home theatre, before the open-plan living, kitchen and dining area at the rear.
Large glass doors slide away to reveal the backyard, where Meg and Will’s children can safely play. ‘The northwest aspect gets all the dreamy evening light and sunsets are wonderful,’ says Meg.
The upper storey contains four bedrooms and two bathrooms, including the main bedroom suite with its own walk-in wardrobe and en suite.
Boutique Homes offers 16 different facade options to accompany the Ascot floor plan. Meg and Will selected the ‘Hamptons’ facade for its coastal look, inspired by their new location in Torquay, on Victoria’s Surf Coast.
Choosing the internal materials for the home was one of the couple’s favourite parts of the design process. They opted for a bright and fresh scheme both indoors and out, with pops of blue on the front door, kitchen island bench, and tartan-like bathroom floor tiles. Gold handles and tapware throughout elevate and unify the interiors – alongside premium details such as ILVE appliances and Dulux paint (all of which are included into the build price for every Boutique Homes build).
The study is a contrasting dark and moody colour, that sets the intention of this room. ‘It’s a lovely place to work or create in and offers a nice contrast to the bright spaces in the rest of the home,’ says Meg.
Meg and Will loved seeing their home come together before their eyes on daily drive-bys during the construction process! They moved in in 2023 as a family of four, and look forward to making many more memories in the home they’ve created.
