When it came time for Jacob Shieh to buy his first apartment, Polygon Homes’ Halo development in South Surrey was an obvious choice for the 31-year-old software engineer.
“I basically grew up in this neighbourhood,” says Shieh. “So, I know this area very well. It’s very near and dear to me.”
Shieh’s family moved to South Surrey’s Semiahmoo neighbourhood when he was six years old. “When I saw the location of where it’s at — literally a five-minute walk from where I currently live with my mom — I thought it was the perfect place.”

Halo’s location at 24th Avenue near 152nd Street is a big draw for homebuyers, agrees Goldie Alam, Polygon’s senior vice-president of marketing.
“This location is very convenient,” says Alam. “There are a lot of good schools in the area; it’s got good access to all of the commuter routes, it’s walkable to shopping, a movie theatre, and a short drive to Morgan Crossing.” Peace Arch Hospital, South Surrey Recreation and Arts Centre, Athletic Park and White Rock Beach are all within easy reach.
The development comprises two six-storey buildings with units in its north building on offer at Polygon’s presentation centre at 15231 20 Ave, South Surrey. The project includes 201 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments and three townhomes. The apartments range in size from 634 to 1,015 square feet, and the townhomes start at 1,765 square feet.
Alam says the project moniker, Halo, conveys the idea of the warm glow of sunshine. The circular shape of a ‘halo’ also speaks to its location at the centre of an established community, with its surrounding radius capturing the nearby urban conveniences and natural settings.

Alam explains this connection with a nod to the area map overlaid with concentric circles featured on the wall of the development’s presentation centre.
“Drawing that circle around where [the project] is shows that it’s at the centre of everything in this area.”
And Shieh couldn’t agree more.
“I love how close it is to the forests, how close it is to the beaches,” he says.
“The location is central to public transportation. It’s close to bus stops. It’s close to grocery stores. I really like that aspect of it.”
GBL Architects designed the building exterior with contrasting light and bright elements such as dark brickwork, black metal details and white panels, which Alam describes as “West Coast contemporary; it’s very clean with wood accents.”
For the interiors, buyers can choose from two colour schemes: ‘Breeze,’ a light look with white cabinetry and warm natural tones as seen in the display suite, and ‘Crescent,’ a darker scheme with two-toned cabinetry for a stronger light and dark colour contrast.
Kitchens at Halo feature engineered stone countertops, stainless steel appliances, recessed pot lighting, flat-panel laminate cabinets and matte-black pulls and sink faucets. A large format tile backsplash adds a modern edge to the space with a natural finish and texture.

“At Polygon, we really focus on designing homes for people to live in them,” says Alam, noting the sizable kitchen islands and ample storage space. One-bedroom units start at 634 square feet, which Alam notes is fairly spacious by today’s apartment living standards.
Primary ensuites feature quartz countertops, porcelain tiles, dual sinks, a spa bench in the oversized walk-in showers and tile flooring.
Living areas and bedrooms at Halo are fitted with laminate flooring. Heat-pump systems provide heating and air conditioning. Polygon partners with Telus to provide smart home tech, including a keyless entry system, home automation and parcel lockers.
Conveniences like a pet-washing station and bike maintenance area in the parkade will come in handy after returning from a forest or beach expedition. And each parking stall is equipped for a level-2 EV charger connection.
Halo’s 2,300 square feet of indoor amenities include a social lounge and a fitness studio with areas for yoga, cardio and strength training. Residents can host family and friends in a lounge with a bar seating area and a custom harvest table. There’s a boardroom for meetings and folks who work from home and may need the additional space.

Every unit will have a deck or patio space, and outdoor common areas include a 7,500- square-foot private courtyard with a fire pit, open lawn space and a covered area with a fireplace suitable for year-round gatherings.
“Having that courtyard in the centre of the complex looks really nice. I’m excited for that,” says Shieh, whose two-bedroom, two-bathroom, 890-square-foot home will overlook the green space.
Alam says that Halo is attracting attention from a broad mix of buyers. There are first-time buyers like Shieh, as well as downsizers from the area interested in the larger floor plans. Some buyers are upsizing from older, smaller condos in the area, adds Alam, and long-term investors are buying for family use down the road.
Completion is scheduled for summer 2026.
