The renovation of Appartement Ballu is a harmonious dialogue between past and present. At its core, the project sought to decompartmentalize the traditional room layout typical of Haussmann apartments, creating an open, flowing space filled with light. One of the defining features of the apartment is its unique corner location, which gave rise to a distinctive rotunda dining room. The curve, a recurring motif throughout the renovation, is also reflected in the design of the library arch—a sculptural transformation of what were once merely functional locks. This curved library adds both aesthetic and practical value, seamlessly blending into the apartment’s renewed layout.
A Play of Contrasts: Color and Texture
Parages’ approach to color imbues Appartement Ballu with an emotional narrative that heightens the sensory experience of the space. The living areas feature a soft pastel pink, a subtle yet striking hue that highlights the interventions made during the renovation. This delicate pink contrasts beautifully with the light gray walls and the warm tones of the Hungarian point parquet flooring, resulting in spaces that feel both sophisticated and inviting.
In contrast to the pastel palette of the living rooms, the entrance takes on a bold personality with its deep green walls.
