David Gandy, best known as the long-time face of Dolce & Gabbana’s Light Blue fragrance, has finally found his perfect family home. After years of searching, Gandy and his partner, barrister Stephanie Mendoros, have settled into a beautifully restored house in Richmond, southwest London. They live there with their daughters, Matilda, five, and Tabitha, two. Spread across 6,000 square feet, the house features 19 rooms, including six bedrooms and seven bathrooms, making it a truly grand family residence. Here’s a look inside some of the most remarkable spaces.

A Home with History

Gandy’s love for home renovations comes from his upbringing. His parents often took on property projects, teaching him the value of thoughtful design. Every corner of his home reflects his meticulous attention to detail.

A Fascinating Discovery

During renovations, Gandy and Mendoros found a time capsule left by past residents, including actor Nigel Planer and his brothers. This discovery connected them with the granddaughter of the original owner, an American film director. A surprising moment came when Gandy spotted a 1935 photo of the terrace. It showed wingback wicker chairs, identical to the ones he had just bought and placed in the same spot.

The Kitchen: A Balance of Tradition and Modernity

Designed in collaboration with Neolith, the cream kitchen perfectly reflects the home’s fusion of old and new.

Spacious & Light-Filled: Large bespoke steel architectural doors flood the room with natural light.Classic Meets Contemporary: The herringbone parquet floor and framed panel detailing on the walls and cupboards pay homage to historical design.

A Space for EntertainingThe couple installed a long Restoration Hardware table, perfect for hosting family and friends.

  • Immersive Design: The landscape-themed walls and ceiling create a sense of stepping into nature.

The Girls’ Rooms: Soft, Playful, and Functional

Matilda and Tabitha’s rooms reflect their personalities while maintaining the home’s refined aesthetic.

  • A Dreamy Retreat: Soft pink hues create a calm, playful atmosphere.
  • Matilda’s Suite: Designed with Union Bespoke, her room includes:
    • A separate dressing and play area
    • Inbuilt velvet seating
    • Dressing tables, mirrors, and ample storage
  • Nature-Inspired Playroom: The girls’ playroom wallpaper, reminiscent of Gandy’s African travels, brings the outdoors inside.

The Study: Gandy’s Personal Haven

This space reflects Gandy’s love for Ralph Lauren interiors and offers a rich, textured escape from the rest of the home.

  • Deep Forest Green Walls: A cocooning effect that enhances the room’s original ceiling architecture.
  • Classic Textiles: Herringbone details and dogtooth cushions add a tailored, masculine feel.
  • A Tribute to Fashion: “Maybe it’s a subconscious nod to my decades in the fashion industry,” Gandy muses.

A Home That Honors Its Past

Gandy was meticulous about preserving the home’s original charm while making it suitable for modern family life.

  • Exterior Left Unchanged: The stained glass windows and pillared balcony remain intact.
  • Seamless Extension: A single-storey rear addition blends in flawlessly with the original 1927 architecture.
  • British Craftsmanship:
    • Bakehouse Kitchens for cabinetry
    • Eden Clay for herringbone flooring and tiles
    • Aquaroc for a custom bath in Matilda’s ensuite
    • Lusso Stone for marble and sinkware

From heritage architecture to thoughtful, personal design choices, David Gandy’s Richmond home is a perfect reflection of his family’s lifestyle, love of history, and appreciation for craftsmanship.
