Melbourne architecture practice Design Inc has announced a suite of promotions and appointments to begin the new year after picking up a number of significant education, health, and science/research projects in late 2020.
Architect Nicole de Lacy has been promoted to associate “in recognition of her leadership capability and excellence as a project architect.” de Lacy has worked at Design Inc for the past five years.
Sereni Naidoo has been promoted to the role of senior interior designer. Since joining Design Inc in 2015 as a graduate, Naidoo has taken on design roles on significant health, education, and research projects.
The company has also made two new hires – a senior education specialist and a project leader with health and research expertise – who joined in January 2021.
“A core value is to have a structure that creates clear pathways for our people to grow, progress and achieve excellence,” Design Inc directors Christon Batey-Smith, Stephen Webb and Rohan Wilson wrote in a statement. “We are aiming to improve our mix of strengths and skills and foster greater diversity of styles and viewpoints.”
Design Inc’s 2021 graduate program will also see three new graduates join the company, the largest annual intake to date. Director Rohan Wilson said, “It is an indication of our confidence in 2021, that we have increased our graduate intake this year. Graduates can expect exposure to a wide range of projects, experiences and ongoing mentoring support; and they will benefit from Design Inc’s flexible work environment and ethos of encouraging ongoing learning and team building.”
The Design Inc directors said, “We are looking forward to 2021, and are optimistic that as a community we have all grown and learned many new skills in response the challenges of 2020. Sure, we are not out of the woods yet, but we are doing all we can to build the momentum of our practice toward our vision to create Australia’s healthiest buildings.”
