Los Angeles-based Spanish artist and designer Laura Niubó recently launched a new rug collection called Espressionismo Floreale. Described as “the rebirth of life through flowers,” the collection includes six different designs that represent a natural reproductive part of a flower in an abstract way. Perfect for those leaning towards maximalism, these graphic, vibrant rugs display bright colors, geometric shapes, and curvy lines.
Each of the designs – Carpel, Petal, Filament, Leaf, Stamen, and Anther – features a curated color palette that’s bound to elevate the energy of any room. On top of the powerful colors, each carpet boasts a sinuous, graphic pattern that might make you think of the work of Frank Stella.
Each rug is designed in Los Angeles and hand-tufted in Portugal from a blend of New Zealand wool and vegan silk.
From Laura: “I want ourselves, our kids and future generations to remember that nature continues offering its beauty and support. Espressionismo Floreale is a chance to feel joy by celebrating all of it. I would love to communicate this message to remind us of the beauty that we are surrounded by, the power of nature and its flowers that make our existence possible. To rethink and readjust to a positive and colorful lifestyle. To uplift the way we feel and live in our everyday environments. Bringing it to life through a collection of rugs and other design objects in the future”.
The Espressionismo Floreale collection was presented at Alcova during Milan Design Week 2023.
